MOSCOW, August 16 – PRIME. The list of potential bilateral projects for collaboration between Russia and the United States is extensive, ranging from oil extraction in the Kara and Okhotsk Seas to the import of technologies for liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the supply of Russian oil to American refineries, experts told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, negotiations were held in Anchorage, Alaska, between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. Following the summit, Putin stated that Russia and the U.S. have much to offer each other in trade, energy, technology, and space.
"The list of potential bilateral projects in the energy sector is exceptionally broad – from oil extraction in the Kara and Okhotsk Seas to the import of technologies for LNG production and the supply of Russian oil for American refineries that utilize high-sulfur raw materials. Specific directions will depend on the speed of sanctions removal and the assessment of long-term business prospects in Russia by American companies," said Sergey Tereshkin, CEO of Open Oil Market.
Managing Partner of Kasatkin Consulting Dmitry Kasatkin also noted that Russia can offer the U.S. its icebreaker fleet and expertise in operating under harsh conditions. Additionally, the two countries could collaborate in nuclear energy, including mobile energy units and small reactors.
Other areas of cooperation include the development of "green" generation and autonomous energy systems for northern regions, as well as joint projects in carbon capture and storage, where the U.S. leads in technologies while Russia can scale storage sites. "All these areas can combine the strengths of both sides and yield economic results, but they will require certain political will and clear guarantees," Kasatkin added.

Tereshkin concluded that, overall, cooperation is more beneficial for both sides than the restrictions that prevent Russian companies from supplying energy resources to the U.S. and limit American equipment manufacturers' access to the Russian market.
